Man Singing Radiohead At Karaoke Needs to Read the Fucking Room

31 year old Ryan Holdings ruined the vibes last night at Little Tokyo Karaoke when he chose to sing Radiohead’s High and Dry. Ryan, a grad student studying philosophy, was booed and heckled, but refused to stop singing lyrics like “You broke another mirror, You’re turning into something you are not.”

“It totally bummed me out,” says Mindy Linn, who was present during Ryan’s rendition of Thom Yorke’s classic. “I mean, good for him for being unique, but like he totally killed the fucking mood. I was just there to have fun.”

Mindy went on to say that before Ryan’s performance, she and her friends were enjoying an evening of California rolls, shots, and belting songs from Hamilton. When Ryan walked on stage, Mindy says at first she thought it was the manager there to fix the lights. When she realized he was there to sing, she hoped he would pick something energetic like Whitney Houston or the Backstreet Boys.

Instead, Mindy says, Ryan just sat on a stool with his eyes closed the entire time, clutching the mike with both hands.

“I mean it was like, sad?” said Mindy. “Dudes probably going through something.”

The booing died down and Ryan finished his song to a silent room. He took a bow.

“I thought it was over,” said Amanda Pain, a  frequent visitor of Little Tokyo. “I remember I went up after him. I sang Spice Girls, the crowd loved it, I mean I do have a great voice. But then Ryan got onstage… again.”

According to Pain, Ryan chose yet another Radiohead song, this time Meeting in the Aisle, an entirely instrumental song.

“He really needed to read the crowd,” says Pain.

By the time Ryan was finished, the entire room had left. Ryan bowed again anyways.
